| Our splendid 10m x 5m private pool, with paved surround and sunbeds/recliners, is for sole use by our guests. For entertainment, we provide a TV with satellite viewing and access to normal English tv channels; video with vast choice of English videos (comedy, romance, drama, sci-fi), and films suitable for children; a hi-fi system with CD selection; a range of books (English again), plus childrens' books for all ages. There are 4 bicycles and safety helmets at the house should you wish to explore the surrounding area by bike. There is a full size table-tennis table for added enjoyment. We also have a pool table for use indoors. For those who enjoy less active entertainment, there is a selection of familiar board games and playing cards. Just through the town of Verteilac, is a very good horse riding school, details of which you will find in the 'HOUSE NOTES' on your arrival at Maison Rose. For a leisurely afternoon pop into Brantome, built on an island in the River Dronne and accessible by 4 small bridges. Picturesque uncrowded river banks offer lovely picnic spots from which to watch wild life and canoes pass. Better still, hire that canoe! The Dronne is quite safe, slow moving and shallow. There are many restaurants and shops to while away your time - all within short walk of each other: parking is seldom a problem. Alternatively explore some of the prehistoric caves, or the ancient Brantome Abbey built into the rocks. A short drive away is the town of Aubeterre with its monolithic church of Saint-Jean of Aubeterre - quite unique. G.R. 36 almost loops around Maison Rose, so there are tempting stretches of that for walkers to contemplate! Click on the left - for more info on Places to Visit!
